The Adult Medical Adult (AMC) is a part of the Medicine Program. AMC is located in the west side of the Grace Hospital Campus, beside the admitting department. It provides treatment and support to over 20,000 individuals as an outpatient capacity clinic. AMC has various specialties available, which include internal medicine, gastroenterology, respiratory, neurology, infectious diseases, allergy/immunology and rheumatology. The Adult Medical Clinic operates on an appointment only basis, requiring a consult from a referring physician; no walk-ins are accepted. AMC has been recognized as an HHT Center of Excellence by Cure HHT since 2019.
Location and Parking
The clinic is located on the main floor of Grace Hospital. Please look for the signs outside the hospital indicating where to enter. Register for the clinic at the admitting desk, then proceed to patient registration before coming to the clinic for your appointment.
Please arrive early for your appointment to allow time for parking. Parking options include the hospital parking lot or 2-hour maximum street parking available on Sturgeon Road or Booth Drive.

How To Prepare For Your Appointment
Once you arrive in the hospital, you must register with patient registration/admitting that’s located beside the clinic entrance. Once you register you can proceed to the Adult Medical Clinic located to the left of the admitting desk.
We kindly ask you to bring:
- Your MB Health Card
- A full list of the medications you are taking (this includes prescription and non-prescription)
- Name and location of the pharmacy you use
Once checked in a nurse will take your blood pressure, obtain your height and weight, and go over your medication list with you before seeing your specialist.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a LATEX-SAFE facility meaning we are an environment that minimizes the risk of latex reaction occurring in sensitized or allergic individuals. This is achieved by either removing, when there is an alternate substitute, or reducing inventory of Natural Rubber Latex products that are most likely to cause a reaction.

If you have a question for your physician directly, please contact your family physician first to see if they can answer your question. If they are unable to, you may call our clinic at 204-837-0790 and follow the prompts to speak with a nurse. Our nursing staff is committed to providing quality patient care and assisting our physicians in providing patient care.

Our messages are checked every two days at minimum. Please allow five business days for a nurse to get back to you. Any message left on the voicemail will be heard. Do not leave more than one message, our call volumes are very high. If you’ve been seen in an ER and would like your specialist to know, only contact them if it’s related to what they see you for.

Respiratory
Our two respirologists are Dr. Els de Gussem and Dr. Michael Onotera.
Dr. de Gussem is a certified HHT Specialist. Heredity Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) is a genetic disorder that causes malformed blood vessels and can affect multiple organs of the body.

Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology
Our infectious disease physicians are Dr. Amila Heendeniya, Dr. Frank Bovell, and Dr. Gregory Hammond. If you feel that you need to see an ID specialist please see your family physician for a referral.
Our rheumatologist is Dr. Ramandip Singh. If you feel that you need to see him please see your family physician for a referral.
Allergy
The Allergy and Clinical Immunology physicians at our clinic include Dr. Lundy McKibbin and Dr. Karver Zaborniak, who are both part of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Our clinic offers comprehensive assessment of all allergic disorders, including hives, angioedema, food allergies, drug allergies, stinging insect allergies, atopic dermatitis, asthma, eosinophilic disorders, and more. We have access to extensive allergy testing for these concerns, including access to patch testing and spirometry.
The allergy clinic also offers access to immunotherapy treatment as well, including venom immunotherapy and subcutaneous / sublingual immunotherapy for environmental allergens.
Please note our facility is not a latex free environment. We cannot guarantee you will not be in contact with latex in our department. We are a latex-safe facility. If you don’t feel comfortable coming into the clinic due to your allergy, please call our clinic and speak with a nurse who can discuss options with you for your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
My family member has mobility concerns, do you have a wheelchair on site we could use?
- We offer wheelchairs when you first enter through the Admitting doors. You may also ask patient registration for one.
Do your doctors offers walk-in clinic services?
- No, our clinic is appointment based only. In order to obtain an appointment, you must have a referral from your family doctor or from a walk-in clinic physician or nurse practitioner.
I would like access to my chart. How do I do this?
- Please call our Medico-Legal Correspondence in Health Records at 204-837-0219. They can assist you in obtaining your records.
My medication I’ve been prescribed by one of our clinic physicians needs to be refilled, or my medication isn’t working for me anymore. How can I speak with my specialist about changing my medications?
- Please contact your pharmacy for any medication related questions first. If the pharmacist determines you need a different dose or medication, the pharmacy can fax our physician to get a new medication ordered or change your dose. If you require any refills, please go through your pharmacy, do not call the clinic.
- Please be aware that our physicians are not in the clinic daily. Please speak with your pharmacist to get your prescription refilled PRIOR to your medications running out as it may take 7-10 business days for your prescription to be filled.
I have a disability form, MPI or insurance forms to be filled out. How do I get my specialist to fill them out?
- Bring in the form or mail it to the clinic, addressing it to AMC – Attention (insert physician’s name), 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 1M7. Ensure the form is signed by the patient. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your form to be completed, we will contact you when the form is ready to be picked up or mailed out. Please note, our physicians may refuse to fill out the form. Generally, a family doctor can complete these forms for you.
Will I been seen by residents or students in the clinic?
- At times, a resident may be working with the specialist. Any interviews with you will be discussed with the specialist before a treatment plan is implemented. Residents are the future of medicine and we appreciate your willingness to let them be involved in your care. If you don’t want a resident or any student to be involved in your care, please inform the staff.
Can I make my appointment a phone call instead of coming into the clinic?
- Depending on your situation we may be able to accommodate a phone appointment for you. Please ask your specialist during your consult to see if phone appointments are acceptable in your specific case. For phone visits please allow up to one hour on either side of your appointment time, we can’t determine if our clinic will be running behind or not. Please do not drive during your phone appointment, as you should not be distracted.
I need to cancel or schedule my appointment, whom should I call?
- Call our main clinic line at 204-837-0790. Follow the prompts to speak with the specialist’s receptionist. Please cancel within 48 hours before your appointment so that we still have time to fill the cancellation spots. We understand that emergencies happen. If you cannot attend your appointment, please call the clinic to inform us about rescheduling.
I called the clinic to confirm my appointment, but they never called me back to say they received my message. Should I call again?
- Our clinic receives high call volumes, resulting in our inability to return your call and confirm your appointment. When you call, please state your name and appointment time to confirm your attendance. If you call to check when your appointment is, the receptionist will call you back to ensure you have the correct appointment time and can make it to your appointment date.
I was told I received a prescription at my appointment, by my pharmacy still doesn’t have it. Should I contact the clinic to inform them that the pharmacy hasn’t received it yet?
- Please allow 1-2 business days to pass before contacting our clinic in regarding your new prescription; this time is provided for our receptionist to process the charts from the clinic day.
I would like to get my bloodwork or diagnostic imaging results; how can I obtain this information?
- For lab and diagnostic imaging results, these are reviewed by the physicians, and if there are any recommendations or concerns, you will be notified. Otherwise, these will be discussed at your next appointment. If you don’t have an upcoming appointment, please contact the clinic to obtain your results.
I would like an earlier appointment; whom should I contact?
- Please call the clinic and speak with the physician’s clerk to be added to the cancellation list. If your symptoms worsen while waiting for a consultation, please reach out to your family doctor. If you have already seen the specialist and your symptoms have changed, please contact the clinic so we can inform your physician about your worsening symptoms.
